Some notes:

This award, established in Martha Richards’ name, is given annually to a visionary woman who uplifts, amplifies, and advances women in the arts. StateraArts established this award to recognize outstanding leaders and support the work of women who are creating pathways for others. The 2019 recipient of the MRVWL Award:

  • Uplifts, amplifies, and advances women leaders in the arts

  • Actively creates pathways to success and advancement for women in the arts

  • Embodies Statera’s mission of positive action for women in the arts

  • Upholds the values of intersectional gender equity in their own leadership

We honor each nominee’s unique leadership journey. We are seeking a nominee whose work has a wide reach in their respective communities, who are actively mentoring women in the arts, who live at the intersection of art and activism, and who facilitate intersectional equity within their given circumstances.

We have encouraged those making nominations to write from the heart. Many of the writers are young students or those for whom English is not their first language. We want to make this nomination process accessible to all, whether or not they've mastered the "art of the nomination".

Please don’t hesitate to contact Operations Director Sarah Greenman if you have any questions at sarah@stateraarts.org.
