Yusef Seevers | Statera Ambassador
Statera Ambassadors are artist-activists with big ideas! They are Statera's creative brain trust. You will find our Ambassadors authoring posts on the Statera Blog, presenting at StateraCon, engaging as regional Mentorship Coordinators, serving on steering committees, and consulting on the development of Statera programming. You’ll also find them using word-of-mouth and social media platforms to share Statera-related news and resources to strengthen our grassroots movement for intersectional gender parity in the arts.
Yusef, a proud Detroit native, is extremely grateful to be joining Statera Foundation this year. Yusef grew up in the culture of West African dance, studying rhythms from Senegal, Congo, Guinea, Gambia, Mali, Zimbabwe. His passions took him to Santa Fe, NM where he studied Musical Theater, vocal performance and graduated cum laude with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. While in Santa Fe, he continued teaching all styles of dance. Yusef has just
received his Masters in Fine Arts specializing in acting from Southern Methodist University.
Yusef is excited to be a new Resident Artist at PCPA (Pacific Conservatory Theatre) in Santa Maria, California. Continuing his work in the Integration of breath, body and voice working together to effectively communicate and build Artistic Change-makers.
A note from Yusef “Statera Foundation's work for social justice in the theatre is the perfect companion for my life’s passion in human healing. I will be representing my company B. A. E. I. ( Body Awareness and Emotional Intelligence), which is my vehicle for facilitating discussions and workshops based around the transmuting of trauma through the arts. Our mission is to facilitate change through deep physical exploration of emotions and breath work. Giving tools and providing platforms for everyone to treat their emotions and bodies with respect."
